Interview with Mr. Mohammad Goharian, Head of I&C Dept., Touss Power Plant, Iran
Q: Which other workflow engines did you examine before deciding on Skelta Workflow.NET?
A: Other than Skelta Workflow.NET, we had made an extensive study on Compaq WorkExpeditor, Teamplate and K2.net
Q: What determined your final choice of Skelta Workflow.NET?
A: Skelta being an embeddable solution written completely in Microsoft .NET, its ability to support the customization we required and the price were the three key factors that helped us choose it over the other software we considered.
Q: For which particular application did you choose Skelta Workflow.NET?
A: We selected Skelta Workflow.NET for integrating with the Paperless Preventive Maintenance System that we were developing
Q: How useful did you find the Skelta Workflow.NET engine?
A: Skelta Workflow.NET was great because of its capability to look at business processes in an Object Oriented way. It enables you to make decisions and route the content based on the submitted variables.
Q: Of the four ASP.NET controls that Skelta Workflow.NET comes with - Process Designer Control, Activity Control, Calendar Control and Reporting Control - features of which particular control(s) did you find the most useful - and why ?
A: Even though all the four controls are important and useful, the Process Designer is very useful for presentations and activity control for presenting the task list
Q: What benefits did you derive from using Skelta Workflow.NET? Please elaborate with reference to the specific application for which the engine was used.
A: We were able to develop and deploy a fully automated vertical and horizontal communication application for sharing and workflow based documents. We could postpone business process exploration and definition to the deployment phase. Skelta also gave us the flexibility to change some business rules with out having to recompile.
Q: What has been your experience in terms of the technical support provided for the product?
A: Skelta has a very dedicated sales and support team. The team was very good professionally, and also very friendly. Also, they were able to solve all our issues as when the need arose.
Q: How useful was the product documentation?
A: There is a lot of improvement in the product documentation when you compare it with Ver. 1.1. The current documentation is really helpful.
Q: In your opinion, which features and functionality of Skelta Workflow.NET require further improvement?
A: The features and functionality currently available in Skelta were adequate for us to build our application. But it would be great if Skelta can provide more customization for the Activity Control - I think this is provided in the new Skelta Workflow.NET 2004 version -and Reporting Control. It would also be nice to have the capability to import and export workflow definitions - I think this also has been taken care of in the Skelta Workflow.NET 2004 version.
